With barely any room to move, thousands of swimmers escaped a heat wave in China by cramming into a pool on one of the hottest days of the year in the south-western city of Chongqing.
According to the Shanghaiist ,government meteorologists had issued an orange alert - the second-highest level on the country's heat scale - for the fourth consecutive day as the temperature peaked at a sweltering 40C
Photos of the crowded pool have gone viral on social media in China, with users questioning whether the pool was safe with so many people in it and whether the water was polluted by the swimmers.
