Man sentenced for stealing pot of soup in Lagos

A Somolu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Monday sentenced a 28- year-old man, Abiodun Ojedokun, to six days of community service for stealing a large pot of soup.
“The accused connived with some others, now at large, to break into one Mrs Gbadamosi Sanni’s shop at 2:00 a.m. “They broke the locks and stole her large pot of soup, valued at N8,000,”
Ojedokun pleaded guilty to the charges and asked for leniency, claiming that he committed the offence because he was starving.

  9. Na so them dey start. If you're hungry, why not break into the shop and take what ur mouth would contain instead of stealing the whole pot?? Very soon they will start picking pocket and gradually they will graduate with BSc into full armed robbery.

  17. Some claimants are always taking advantage of a situation.I have seen several incidence where a claimant would charged a thief to court for stealing his mobile phone and he presented a forged receipt and the receipt showed the worth of the phone as 50k.Meanwhile it's a chinko phone that is not up to #3,500.How can someone prepare a pot of soup with 8k?The claimant ought to be interrogated and fine for lying too. What did he buy that amount to that gross sum?Except it's owambe drum of soup.
