Nyanya Bombing Suspect,Ogwuche seeks 100m compensation

The alleged mastermind of the April 14 twin bomb explosions that killed over 75 persons and wounded 100 others at a crowded motor park in Nyanya Abuja, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, has demanded the Federal Government pay him the sum of N100million as damages for unlawful detention.
In a suit filed by his lawyer Mr. Ahmed Raji, SAN, he also demanded a published apology in two national dailies.

He also requested that the court should make an order releasing him on bail and preventing the DSS from further arresting or detaining him, or in the alternative charge him to court within 48 hours of the court granting his orders. He argued that it was illegal for the DSS to still retain the accused person in its custody without arranging him over the commission of any act of criminality.

Ogwuche insisted that his continued detention in the custody of the Department of State Security, DSS, amounted to ‎a gross abuse of his fundamental human rights

On November 24, the two-count charge brought against Ogwuche was struck out by a Federal High Court in Abuja

  10. Is it the nigerian lawyers who call themselves san that are incompetent or it is the judiciary that free this dude? The main suspect that masterminded the nyanya bomb blast had mentioned ogwuche's name while the judge acquitted him for lack of diligent prosecution. The same judges that sentence kidnappers to death will give bokoharam convict 10yrs in jail.what is wrong with this country?

  11. My first comment when Sanusi was announced as the new emir of kano was, this guy called ogwuche will soon get his freedom. And now I'm not surprise. This country is a big joke, once you have any powerful and stinkingly rich godfather in this yeye country then you can kill as many sould as you dim fit and go free. If Mutalab was convicted in naija he would have been a free man by now. Sanusi is Ogwuche and Mutalab's godfather. God have mercy on this country!

  13. He's right. If u arrest somebody, charge them shaded indict them. The court should declare him guilty or let him go. They should bring his charge and put him away if found guilty. A lot of Nigerians are in jail for years now, awaiting trial.

  15. So many nigerians who arrested on bailable offences are languishing in various prisons for 7yrs due to lack of diligent prosecution. This man that was arrested last week for sponsoring terrorism is acquitted for lack of dilligent prosecution. Why is the law always misinterpreted?

  16. This got me thinking of Jack Bauer and his terrorist suspects negotiating bail/amnesty before they talk!
