I was obsessed with Sharon Stone after watching her in Basic Instinct and the Casino. She was and is still a legend based on her legendary scene in Basic Instinct (the interrogation session where she intentionally wore no undies)...Now 55 she opened up to shape magazine on her struggle with ageing .....
It hasn't been easy.There was a point in my 40s where I went into the bathroom with a bottle of wine, locked the door, and said, "I'm not coming out until I can totally accept the way I look right now."
'And I examined my face in the magnifying mirror, and I looked at my body, and I cried and cried and cried. Then I said to myself, "You're going to get old now. How do you want to do that?"
'And I thought, "I'd like to age like a dancer." I want to keep my body in shape like that. I want to do the work. I like to dance and stretch. And I like going to the gym.'
'I like porterhouse steak, rib-eyes and New York strip. This works for me because I have very low cholesterol and low blood pressure. It's not good for everyone; you have to talk to your doctor about that. I also eat fish and cheese. I like clean food prepared as simply as possible.
'I used to love wine, but I don't drink at all now. I think, at a certain point, it's better for women not to have any alcohol because it can make your face, breasts and midsection get very bloated.'

ReplyDeleteI'm sad she old, too… she was a fricken goddess. No one ever had to say "for her age" after saying she looks good.. no one even ever had to say "she looks good".. it was given. It's funny, she was actually in her 30s before she was famous anyway, so she was older than most women in hollywood from the first time we met her. We are shocked now when starlets still look good when they hit 40.. but no one even noticed when she turned 40. Age truly didn't seem to apply to her, so much so that no one ever even asked. Brad Pitt had that same sort of thing… I remember watching Ocean's 11 with my mom and grandma, and my mom asked my grandma who she thought looked better, Clooney or Pitt. She said "well, I'm an older woman"(ha, ya, we know)"so I like George Clooney." No body ever thought to wonder, but George Clooney is only 2 years older than Brad Pitt. I saw dusk till dawn with a girl in college who described Clooney as a hot older guy. He was younger in that movie than Brad Pitt was in Fight Club. This was well after Fight Club was already out, and no one had ever added "for an old guy" after saying Pitt was hot in that movie. Sharon Stone was that. No one noticed that she was an older woman until she was in her 50s. Of course she looks great for her age, about a million times better than your girlfriend will, but those of us who saw her in her hay day seemed to never have thought she'd get old, either. It seems shallow, but there's something more tragic about when it happens to beautiful people.
