21 year old student commits suicide over jilted lover in Cross River (Photo)

21-year-old student of Maritime Academy Oron, Effiong Otu committed suicide by hanging himself on a rope in his room on Thursday morning after he was jilted by his girl friend. According to reports,this happened on the same day he was marking the 10th  anniversary of his dad who died in a car accident. After the anniversary, his family members left the house and he went to a neighbour to borrow a rope.

Moments later, the suspicious neighbours wondered why he needed a rope and went to check on him but found the door locked. When  they broke down the door,he had passed on.He was the only son of his parents..
Before hanging himself, he was said a called a friend telling him to tell a certain blessing at UNICEM that she should be happy he has killed himself over her...
On the 6th of July,he posted the following message on Facebook
“It’s not about being engaged, married or in a relationship. It’s about being happy, safe, secured, relieved and feeling good. It’s about peaceful state of mind, it’s about sleeping at night without the fear of losing what you’ve got.
It’s being yourself and not someone else, it’s about feeling loved, happy, respected, understood, cared for and appreciated.! Goodnight my beautiful people!

    Why do people do this? It's beyond me! So what has his suicide achieved? Even tho, d girl might live wit d guilt, she'll move on, note d word live! He is dead, she is alive, who has lost d most? His poor mother, who lost her husband n now how son! Maritime academy student shows dat his folks had high hopes 4 him. I rili can nvr understand how some folks think!

      And why would she live with the regret?? She has her life to live and he decisions to make he obviously didn't understand that so he ended his. If a guy threatens me with sucide and he ends up doing it God knows I won't even batt an eyelid.

    Menhhhh let's reason d order side of dis matter!!!!!!! Do u guys tink dat is Ordinary????? I dnt tink so bcos sum1 who he or her eyes is wild Open can't do such!!!!!!!! Now d day of his fathers anniversary he killed himself,,,,,,dsam tin dat cost he fathers dead is still against him as a 1st son I guess!!!! RIP

      I believe 100%. For it to happen on the day of his father's 10 years memorial shows that there is more to this story and his father also died in accident. There is spiritual forces behind it not a girl friend. Though when death is coming, it always has something to hold onto even if its headache.

    Sucidal tendency is common among this generation youth. Many factors are responsible, one is growing up without either or both parents, rejection, lonelines, depression, alcoholic or drug abuse, failure....... .That boy has a psychological or mental issues. The girl jilting him triggered the urged. She isnt really the underlying cause. My advice to parent is to always spend quality time with their children to know their needs; emotinal needs especially. It not all about providing material things. What a wasted life!
