Gender equality - Blog Reader's response to Omotola

This is a blog reader's response to Omotola's interview where she said she does believe in gender equality and that men are the head of the family and the women are meant to be assistants
Well a blog reader doesn't agree..Read her thoughts below

"Gender equality does not have to do with men being the heads of the family.
Gender equality simply means no individual should be discriminated based on their gender. Which leads to gender inequality which is the discrimination of individuals because of their gender.

Some examples of gender inequality in some countries

- In some countries women are not allowed to vote.

- In some countries women are not allowed to go to school

- In some work places man earns more than a woman though they are doing the same amount of work

- In Saudi Arabia women are not allowed to drive

- In some counties women are not allowed to go to

some places unless they are with a male companion

All these I listed above are some cases of gender inequality in some counties.

Gender equality will simply allow women to be able to do those thing
Some Organizations and governing bodies are fighting for gender equality in the world to ensure women are given fair treatment like the men and not to drag who heads the home.

  1. I understood what Omotola was trying to say but she didn't say it well. She should not have said she doesn't believe in Gender equality, that's wrong. Allowing your husband to take the lead is a very different matter from gender inequality. It is possible to play different roles and still be equal.

    1. Yah....you guys are geting this kinda twisted...omotolas point of view or rather a perpective towards gender inequality is quite different from what the blogger listed out....hers was based on a union between a man and a woman when joined together As husband and wife and a woman who is probably GOd fearing should be submisive to her husband irrespective of any repuatation she holds in the society

  9. Well! Well! Well! I totally understand everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when it comes to certain subjects, there are right sense of opinion and wrong. Omotola in this case either did not understand the concept or just wanted to get ladies into another topic she prefers (healthy matrimony) Gender equality is giving equal and fair opportunities to both sex, who were all created by same God,be it education, religion, opinion, job, you can name the rest.... This has been observed to be the contrary in some countries and cultures that are repugnant to natural justice. However, l am of the opinion that her topic is worth digesting, especially for the young ladies nowadays. Thanks for reading through!
