Ooni of Ife's 'wife' Olori Wuraola Reacts To Rumours Of Marriage Crisis

Following reports her marriage to the Ooni of Ife has crashed over alleged infidelity on her part , Olori Wuraola has reacted in a statement by her press secretary, Abraham Adedeji. The statement reads

It has come to the attention of our office – the slanderous rumors and sensationalist distortions about Her Majesty, Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi through unnamed and unseen sources. The sources are also citing deplorable claims involving Her Majesty Wuraola and that of prominent businessmen in Nigeria, all of whom are good friends of the King and Queen & financial contributors to projects that have advanced our good work in the communities of Ife and Nigeria as a whole.
We are deeply disturbed by these rumors and there is absolutely no truth to these absurd claims of infidelity and we vehemently deny them.
Due to the nature of the allegations and the attempt to defame the character of the Queen and embarrass well respected friends of our Palace, we have immediately employed legal counsel to investigate their origin to take necessary action against the perpetrators.
Please be advised, that in this digital age, digital footprints can lead to your identification. We stand firmly together, in our commitment to our peace and the truth.

  3. The following is my two cents on the current brouhaha over Queen Wuraola-Zynab Ogunwusi's marriage to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. I think Queen Wuraola is being portrayed as a demon in order for the Ooni of Ife to appear saintly just like his white regalia.

This breakdown of the Ooni's marriage doesn't come as a surprise to me. This was a marriage of convenience for the Ooni and the Yoruba race. The marriage was supposed to be a psychological "defeat" or "subjugation" of the Benin Empire. If people can recall, at the time of the wedding, information was making the rounds in the media that the Oba of Benin was superior in ancestry to the Ooni of Ife. This did not go down well with the Yoruba who, as a people, are well know to revere the Ooni and even swear that life and civilization began in Ile-Ife and not the Garden of Eden or Ancient Egypt respectively. In order to douse the flame of acrimony between these two kingdoms, a marriage alliance was quickly arranged to create the impression of unity of the two kingdoms and make the rivalry simply vanish from public view. It worked perfectly well.

Now that the flame has been doused, Queen Wuraola of Benin extraction is no longer needed. It is now time for the Yoruba race to look for a "proper Yoruba woman" to occupy the position of wife and queen to the Ooni of Ife, A Yoruba Monarch. To them, it is demeaning for the Yoruba to "bow" to the wife of the Ooni who is not of the Yoruba race.
Queen Wuraola-Zynab Ogunwusi was never really wanted by the Ooni's family nor the Yoruba race. My opinion, my two cents!!!
