Cameroonian nanny, Christine Amosson, who allegedly attempted to steal a baby in her care, was yesterday remanded in prison.
An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court ordered that the accused should remain behind bars until the next date of adjournment.
Prosecuting police Inspector Simon
Imhonwa told the court that the accused committed the offence on January
4 at 12.30pm at her employer’s residence in Gbagada.
Imhonwa said the accused was employed by a couple to take care of their six-month old child while at work.
“On January 4 after her employer had left for work, the accused strapped the baby on her back; she packed all her belongings into a ‘Ghana-Must-Go bag’, and attempted to flee with the child.“She was apprehended by a neighbour who alerted the child’s parents and later handed her over to the police,’’ Imhonwa said.
The accused is facing a two-count charge of attempt to commit felony and child stealing.
