Blog Reader whose parents are trapped in flooded Ikotun cries out!

A blog reader just sent an SOS saying her parents are trapped in a flooded area of Ikotun. She says she has no pics but the pic above I found on twitter is said to be from that area. She is calling on the Lagos State government to intervene.
My name is Joy and I'm a resident of Isheri Osun,Ikotun in Lagos state.I want to use this medium to appeal to the state government to come to our aid as our homes are been ravaged by flood especially those of us that are in prince bus stop, debo omikunle street to be precise.we go through this every year for the past 8 years now,I would have sent you pictures but I'm on my youth service in another state. My
parents called me know his morning, they are stranded indoors, the street is filled with water and so is the house. Please I'm appealing to the government to please do something as it gets worse every year.

  1. And they say Fashola did a good job, and the place has been flooding for 8years. If the roads and gutter are well built, this should not be happening. I hope our local and state governments work better this time around

    2. Hello Atinuke, the issue here is that Nigerians are getting substandard jobs done by their local and state governments. I know so many roads in Lagos, contracts were awarded 7yrs ago, you can't ply those roads when it rains and also the contractors abandon so many roads. The citizenry pay a lot in taxes and the allocation from federal government should eliminate these problems. The money is there, but management is appalling and contractors should be held accountable. Go to only Cotonou and you will see how they maintain their roads, Singing praises will not solve Nigerian problems.

    1. Because the cost of living in those area are high.. When house rent is 1.5million and service charge is 1million, that's 2.5million Naira person school fees.
