Ebola: Diplomat Olubukun Koye may face manslaughter charges for fleeing to Port Harcourt

The Nigerian diplomat attached to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Olubukun Koye who escaped from quarantine in Lagos after testing positive to Ebola virus and travelled to Port Harcourt for treatment, an action that resulted in the death of the doctor who treated him (Iyke Enemuo) may face manslaughter charges.

This is coming on the heels of report that the number of persons under surveillance in the state for Ebola Virus Disease has increased from 100 to 160.

According to Thisday,Sources said  that the issue of Koye (a primary contact of the index case, late Liberian Partick Sawyer) who defied instruction not to leave Lagos after being placed in the isolation unit, was discussed at the Federal Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday and that the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation Mohammed Adoki was directed to look into the Nigerian laws and see how he could be sanctioned for his action that resulted in the death of Enemuo.

  3. I support any action that would make that man
face the law. He is not different from Boko haram
that willingly kill people in the name of religion

  5. Fine but why did the authority in charge of the isolation unit not report about it when
he ( olubukun -koye) left the center?.

  6. Apart from making the Diplomat to face the music, we should also be interested in finding out who allowed him to escape. And if he left without the knowledge of the people at the containment center, how come no one raised an alarm that an Ebola patient is missing? We are just a country of idiots. Sometime, i wonder when we will begin to think like human beings. Are they to tell me that no body noticed that an Ebola patient was missing? Why didn't we hear anything from the minister or the Lagos state commissioner of health to the effect that a patient apparently dangerous has escaped. Instead, our minister was busy fanning himself that Ebola has now been contained even when one of the patients was still at large.
