Professor Wole Soyinka has said Igbos vote with their stomachs. While delivering a lecture titled ‘Predicting Nigeria,
Electoral Ironies’ at the Harvard University Hutchins Centre for African
& African American Research, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.Acording to the Cable.ng,he said on April
29, 2015
“The Igbos are probably the only group of Nigerians that you can predict with great accuracy whom they will vote for in an election, because they tend to put their votes where their stomachs take them; suffering as it were, from incurable money-mindedness, as they would stop at nothing in their quest for personal financial gain,”On Buhari, he said
Muhammadu Buhari was the better of the two evils as the incumbent president Goodluck Jonathan had been an unmitigated disaster and failure. It was a painful decision to tell people to vote Buhari, but the country needed a new beginning. I was more against Jonathan, than I was pro-Buhari,”
The great prof
ReplyDeleteI reserve my comment before some crazy peeps starting calling me a mean person.
DeletePsalm 14:1 the fool has said in his heart there is no God... How can a man who can't even acknowledge his maker be taken seriously???
DeleteKeisha . .you are mean..we all already know that.
DeleteSo spill.
Shot fired...this won't end well...
ReplyDelete...And on what basis did he arrive at this conclusion? So the Northerners that voted massively for GMB did so just for doing sake huh! Why should it be painful for a man of your caliber to tell people to vote for someone who you have confidence in to deliver?
DeleteThe elections are over... and the key parties involved have accepted their fate and extended a hand of friendship and support to each other, Proff Wole just don't start a storm you can't calm...that's what you are good in doing though and a good example is the Confraternities in our various institution of higher learning.
Some things are better left unsaid!!!!!!
Tell me who is not money -minded ? Tho his opinion ....#TalkIsCheap.
ReplyDeleteLol he just said the obvious truth
ReplyDeleteThe truth is that wole soyinka is old and might be suffering from old age syndrome so I reserve my comments

Wole baba!
ReplyDeleteThis idiot that calls himself Wole is obviously getting demented! He's a latent reprobate. He's gradually approaching senility! So the ones the yorubas that voted for Buhari are not money minded for voting Buhari! This Wole has gotten brainless to the extent that he ain't aware that APC is an amalgam of Yoruba party and Hausa party and thus naturally they will vote for Buhari. Like some schools of thought opined, this guy is certainly un-intelligent. Wole you're a disgrace. Never believed a so-called educated person can spew such illogicality. When educated and intelligent ones get old, they speak with wisdom. Wole Soyinka is obviously an empty soul, aside for the political crowning of noble laureate, I shudder what would have become of him.
ReplyDeleteOga u are not intelligent, wonder where u were in 2011 when the yorubas' didn't vote their so called yoruba party in the presidential elections....
DeleteWe vote reasonably not biased on tribalism
So the Hausa man that voted apc voted reasonably? They voted for Gmb the same way they did in 2011. Besides even the Yoruba man voted his stomach cos Nigerian only care about who the best person to help them improve their standards of living. This is the case in every part of the world and rightly so too. Pls let's face fact, the prof is becoming a real disgrace in his utterances these days. One would expect our leaders to age gracefully, both physically and mentally. It seems that isn't the case here.
DeleteSometimes old age affect a man's way of reasoning
ReplyDeleteDid the Yorubas vote the winning party PDP in 1999?
ReplyDeleteWhat did wole say?
Did anybody push them into the lagoon?
Maybe he should concentrate on addressing the poison he and his fellow travelers injected into our higher institutions i.e SECRET CULT.
Obasanjo was right about what he said of wole.
"It was a painful decision to tell people to vote for Buhari".. Time shall tell of this misfortune that will befall you wole and your thoughts...!!! #GEJMYHERO...
ReplyDeleteNa u go witness misfortune.
DeleteThis old fool had better respect his old age and go take a nap or something! Anuofia
ReplyDeleteThe ones you think are educated and wise are usually the worst msheww
Wateva happened 2 "um entitled 2 ma opnion" slogan??? Liv him alone, its also his opnion, is he not a peeson like youZZZZZZZ?
ReplyDeleteIgbo people full dis blog oh. Choi
ReplyDeleteI am indifferent abt what he said. Everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion. ...
Sir, I acknowledge your remarkable achievements and your status as a noble laureate but I dare to defer my opinion from yours in this context. There is no gain saying that every human, including Igbos are money-minded but what distinguishes the Igbos from the rest is the fact that they are more industrious and determined unlike a certain tribe, which I believe you are part of, (no offense meant), who are lazy and prefer to party all day and night. Sir, in as much as I respect your achievements in your filed, suffice it to state that you are getting old and bound to be degenerating gradually in your ability to think properly and reach logical conclusions. Much respect!!!
