Goliath probably had acromeagaly- a disease caused by benign tumor in the pituitary gland. The tumor causes an over-secretion of the human growth hormone. The tallest man in the world had it. Robert Waldlow. At his death, he was 8’11 and still growing.
Acromeagaly causes near blindness too. Diplopia. Double vision. Have you ever wondered why Goliath, a warrior, had to come to the battle ground with an attendant holding his shield. You think it’s just swag? Baba was nearly blind. Everything was blurry to him.

Meaning: come closer. I need you up close, I can’t see.
