Presidency to investigate audio leak of pres.Jonathan's phonecall to Buhari

It has been learnt that the Presidency had commenced a discreet investigation into how a recording of the telephone call by the President to Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on March 31, congratulating him on his victory at the last Saturday’s presidential election was leaked.

Punch reports, the audio of the conversation credited to one ENDS.ng @EveryNigerian was titled, “Historic congratulatory call from President Goodluck Jonathan to President-elect Muhammadu Buhari on March 31, 2015.”

A government official, who pleaded anonymity, told a Punch correspondent on Friday that the Presidency was embarrassed by the leaked recording.

While saying that a thorough investigation is underway, the security source said the first step was to ascertain whether the recording was leaked from the Presidency or was made public from the President-elect’s camp.

He said it was only if it was discovered that the recording was leaked from the Presidency that further investigation would be conducted to ascertain those behind it in order to mete out appropriate punishment.

He, however, refused to talk on how long the investigation will take.

“Definitely, unauthorised release of a raw recording of the President’s telephone conversation, if from our (Presidency’s) end is a security breach that cannot go without being investigated,” he said.

The President also promised on Friday to break his silence on his experience in office and other sundry issues at the appropriate time.

  1. That call was recorded and it wasn't necessary at all. Jonathan is a very humble man and his meekness shouldn't be taken for weakness. APC members should take it easy ooo!

    2. All calls from the presidency are usually recorded for security purposes except it's on A sesecured channel but releasing a recorded conversation is a breach of security and that person whether with a good or bad intent is a traitor. It's either from the presidency or from the network provider

  8. APC were the ones who broke the news of jonathan's phone call. They obviously recorded the call. They paused a lot before giving the phone to Buhari. That was when they recorded the call.

    1. U obviously didn't listen to the audio. Cos if u did, u will notice that the recording started from when the phone started ringing. If not how did u know they paused a lot before giving the phone to Buhari if the call was not already recorded by then. Ur hatred for Buhari has really blinded ur sense of reasoning. Whether u like it or not, Buhari is this country's president elect. If u have a problem with that, kindly join bode george on his exile trip.

  14. And yet some people were saying it was a charade by the president to look as if it really came from his heart, I knew some miscreants were at work, let alone for me he should shove it aside and let posterity stare them in the face..!!!
