Policemen die after attack by motorcyclists in Festac,Lagos

Two police officers, an inspector and a sergeant, lost their lives after they were attacked by motorcycle riders in Festac,Lagos. The incident happened in the wee hours of Tuesday at 7th Avenue, High Close, at a place called Aso Rock while the policemen were raiding a dark spot in the area.

A resident told Punch that the incident was a reaction by the riders to the alleged regular harassment of the residents of the area. The police have always gone there to raid and extort the riders. He said the officers were men of the Rapid Response Squad, attached to Area E Police Command.
“On this fateful day, the police came again around 2.30am on motorcycles and with a truck. As usual, they started seizing motorcycles, clothes and money. They carried their loads and other things. It was while this was on that one of the people decided to raise the alarm, and people came out and attacked them.”
Corroborating the claim, a police source said,

“The policemen were on patrol that night and had arrested some motorcycle riders. They were moving out, when some Hausa men around the 7th Avenue, apparently angry, came after them and attacked the officers with weapons.”

One of the murdered police officers was identified as Inspector Bashiru. It was learnt that while Bashiru died instantly, the sergeant gave up on Wednesday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

Firstly RIP to d deceased, secondly I pity his wife and children datz if he is married and av children, the children will be like Daddy was cut short while hustling for us from oda people's pocket. Nevertheless I'll advice everyone to keep an eye on all the Aboki's. My lanlord's son wanted to dupe one aboki after d aboki polished his shoe, to everyone's surprise the aboki brought out a sword from his cloth and gave gave him a run for life. That was the moment I turned a shoemaker myself.
