The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mahmud Mohammed, has finally broken his silence on the arrest of seven judges last week ,calling it “deeply regrettable.”
Speaking at a valedictory session for Justice Suleiman Galadima of the Supreme Court in Abuja, Mr. Mohammed urged Nigerians to pray for the country.
“It is indeed very saddening and deeply regrettable, the distressing and unfortunate incident which occurred on Friday 7 October and Saturday 8 October, 2016,”
“Furthermore, I must express my sincere appreciation to the executive of the Nigerian Bar Association ably led by the President, Abubakar Mahmoud and indeed all members of the legal profession for their prompt action and continued support,” he saidhe said.He also announced an emergency meeting of the National Judicial Council, “which will take place tomorrow, will comprehensively look into the matter.”.
The arrested judges by the SSS include John Okoro and Sylvester Nguta of the Supreme Court, Namdi Dimgba and Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja; Kabiru Auta, from Kano; Muazu Pindiga in Gombe, and a former Chief Judge of Enugu State, Innocent Umezulike.

It's indeed not only regretable but also a slap on democracy.... PMB Continue.!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat about democracy that have been slapping the masses? The massive looting of the nations wealth leading to unpresented level corruption, poverty prostitutiion and ignorance. ANY CORRUPT JUDGE FOUND QUILTY MUSIC FACE THE MUSIC. Their actions contributed a lot to this mess the country is presently going through.
Delete..MUST FACE THE MUSIC. Judges have turned the house of justice into a fraternity. What a big disgrace. Zachariah 7:9, This is what the Lord Almighty said: Administister true justice; show mercy a ans compassion to one another".Leviticus 19:15; Do not patfy justice, so not show partiality to the powerful or favours to the great but judge your neighbours righty.
DeleteThose who collect bribes end subvert justice must ne shown the way out of the judiciary.
DeleteNigeria is over corrupt, its onky God dat can restore her. Av given up hope in my dear country
ReplyDeleteLet's not give up sha. When there's life there's hope
DeleteLife must COntinue we gonna get there
DeleteEvery sensible Nigerian supports the fight against corruption but oga president, this is not the way as it is selective and demeaning! There is not one person who has held any high position in this country whose hands are not soiled! What about Kyria Aba or Burarai? How about those who stole their states dry just to put you where you are today? Have they become saints all of a sudden? We can go on and on. How about OBJ who you have closed door meetings with now? You see? No one is clean! All you want to do is emasculate anyone or anything you feel is in your way. I hope this tyrannical and dictatorial method of yours doesn't come crashing on you and yours

All I hear is people wailing that they shouldn't have been arrested, but they seem to forget that they've been arrested for committing a crime. Nigerians which way, ah!
