Blogger's Diary -My Encounter With The Cunning Rich Woman

It was a really sunny day.I dashed to the bank at the very busy Allen Avenue,Lagos .On getting inside the banking hall with my sister, I was relieved to see a sparse number of customers and proceeded to  fill transfer forms..

I had been in there for 5 minutes when the security guard came to me,requesting my attention was needed outside.Presuming I needed to move my car for someone to drive out, I quickly dashed out.

I saw a well decked woman standing by a red 2015 Range Sport packed behind my car,there were a few other people with her..I was about to unlock my door when she suddenly said in a British/American accent

Hello pretty girl, is this your car?

Yes Maa'am" I said,as i made to get in..

Is that a wig ?She continued 

Oh, it's actually fixed ..She inquired about the name to which I replied "Bkunique hair"

She futher asked about the address of my stylist,saying she needed to fix the same style..Though uncomfortable, I was flattered..Nothing beats getting compliments over your hair..
For a brief second, I saw the people around her looking slightly nervous ,including the security guy who called me ..

So I asked him who needed to move out as the person infront of me was nowhere in sight..

Ermm..Ermm madam, your car..He stuttered..The woman who had complimented me suddenly cut in

Ermm darling,please,I actually called you out because your car has a slight dent..Was trying to park when..It's just minor..

My blushing smiles instantly replaced with a blazing red cheeks..I dashed to the bumper and saw the damage..It wasn't slight..It was a huge dent..Like someone rammed the car into mine..Looking at her fender,it had a protector,so her car was not affected ..

Nodding my head in disbelief ,I thought....Well,she has a range sport,dripping in gold jewelry,must be a respectable woman..I believe she is saying sorry first and then would do the right thing by offering to fix it..She should have insurance right Right?

The next thing she said was

So sorry darling,

Then I said..

Madam,so sorry but this car is already about to be sold.How do you expect me to sell it with this huge dent.This means I have to fix it..This is bad ohh.Really bad..

She sighed and continued to beg saying it was a mistake ..

Madam, If I bashed your car now,when you had it parked here, not even in motion, what would you do? Would you accept my sorry?You see,this isn't a scratch,or a minor dent...So Madam, kindly do the right thing,have it fixed,call your insurance or something..I can't inconvenience myself because of your recklessness..

She hesitated for a second ..Her phone rang
She picks up..(In a harsh Nigerian accent) Yes? Why are you calling me? I'm at the bank now,no alert.I will wait here for 5 more minutes and if you haven't paid, will have you arrested.What rubbish..
She ended the call and hissed..

Back to her British accent

 Darling the right thing is for you to accept my apology.You see,the sun is scorching hot..My skinis suffering now.And I don't joke with my skin..

Gosh,I was infuriated by her last statement..The boldness and pride..I was even more angry she had to go through all the I love your hair route initially..
I had made up my mind, there was no way she wouldn't fix that car .. The sun was scorching hot.. I was getting dehydrated and angry..I decided to go into the banking hall and tell my sister to come out and see what had happened ..she had to fix it(and this had nothing to do with her being richer) the damage was massive, I was a little girl in comparison to her..That's what I would have done in her situation..

As I was just emerging from the bank with my sister ,just to tell her
As we got to he scene, I just heard her bark..

Won't you beg her? Beg her or you lose your job.What nonsense old man,making my stay in Nigeria miserable.....she turned around and entered her car(driver's seat)

 I was in shock..Partly from the way she scolded the old man, an the fact she walked away .No begging would make me change my mind..She must pay for the damage..I resolved..

Some bystanders also suggested they call a mechanic nearby to access the damage and give a cost..

Suddenly,this old man ,about 60 -65 fell on his knees ,held my fet and started begging

Madam,sorry..Abeg forgive me .I beg ..I no wan lose my job.I get 10 children ejor (please)madam

What? Kneel down? Me Madam?

Nooo Baba abeg stand up..I take God beg you.Over wetin? Why you go kneel down..I turned away while insisting he stand up..

The baba didn't stand..

Abeg dem go sack me abeg madam.I no see the motor ..

Baba,e don do(It's alright) stand up...No worry,just go..I said.

That was he magic word..The way this baba just flew up like he wasn't the one on the floor..

Thank you my pickin he said as he rushed towards the Range Sport..

He opened the passenger door and hopped in..Putting on his seat belt,the lady drove off without a word,while I inspected the damage, cursing myself for being so feeble..

"Kai, that baba na good actor"The security guard said..Stingy woman,another bystander added

Actor?Why do you say that ? I said nonchalantly to the security guard..

Because no be him (jam)bash the car,na the woman jam(bash) am...As you enter bank,she tell that baba make hin beg you.

Oh nooo..What? She played me..I turned around with vengeance and saw their car still in traffic,Bringing out the Usain Bolt in me,I decided to bolt after her..Running in traffic, jumping above cars, I kept screaming for her to stop ...I got to her car and fiercely bangedon the drivers side "Stop"I ordered...

I could see her gesticulating at the driver to zoom off..Stop ,i kept screaming, the traffic light was going green at any moment..I needed to tell her apiece of my angry mind..Suddenly,I heard car honks..as I turned around to look,in a split second,the driver zoomed off, leaving me dazed an confused by the side of the road..

I didn't even have time to take down the plate number..
Emeh,Emeh..Just let it go..
Someone shook me..Turning around sharply i yelled
What? It was my sister looking at me with so much concern.

Since that woman drove off, you have been staring at the road...At that moment, I regained my senses.I had been day dreaming I chased after her..Her car was still in traffic..Maybe I should act on my day dream..As I made to go after her and tell her apiece of my mind, the traffic light turned green and I watched her zoom off..

With my day ruined,I didn't even go back into the bank,I told my sister to get in,and zoomed off..It's small world,someday,some how..someone would play a fast one on her,just like she did to me...
