Former governor of Kwara state, Senator Bukola Saraki, has stated that,it is not necessary for public office holders to declare their assets. He was reacting to the President-Elect, Muhammad Buhari's promise that had political office holders in his administration would have to declare their assets.Saraki who is representing Kwara-central senatorial district said
“I don’t think it is declaration of assets that would make you less corrupt or more accountable,I think it is your own individual commitment to your party and leadership provided,.
“Leadership is very important because the leader leads by example. Honestly, things will change. Instead of sitting with the president to seek favour, you come home and sit down with your people so that you can have the better chance of winning election. There would be zero tolerance for corruption and because of the backdrop of that, you begin to see revenue coming up and you will have more money for infrastructural development.”

So dey should all just top fooling themselves, Lead us right n be true to ur obligations while u dey chop
ReplyDeleteThey must declare their asset OR resign from any ministerial appointment -PST.Chekeleke
Deleteif asset declaration wont stop coruption will it aid corruption? So what is the big deal in declaring ones asset, if you are not afraid of being caught . Please Saraki declare your asset. Period.
DeleteSpot on. Assets declaration alone wont stop corruption among politicians as they have various ways of concealing ill gotten wealth. They can open accounts in their unborn children names, late ground mum names and buy mansions in overseas in many bogus names. Abacha did not put stolen money in accounts in his name. Politicians should still declare their assets though.
