Suitor fleeing rival's attack crushed to death in Lagos

A man who attempted to flee from his rival’s attack has been crushed to death by a motorist.

The deceased simply identified as Wisdom Okafor was said to have rammed into an on coming Honda CRV Jeep with registration number LSD 885 DC, while trying to avoid being attacked by his assailants who  Sun gathered, were led by a man identified to be his rival.

The incident happened on Monday, March 23, 2015 along Clem Road, Jankara, Ojokoro area of Lagos.

The driver of the car, one Ibrahim Zakari, eyewitnesses told  Sun, rushed the victim to a private hospital in the area but the hospital management rejected the victim.
“I think he was told to go and get police report or something like that. I am not sure of what made them reject the man but the hospital did not admit him,” he said.
The driver of the car was said to have rushed the victim to Ojokoro Police Station where he was provided an escort to take the deceased to Ahmadiya Hospital.

Sunday Sun, however, gathered that the victim was pronounced dead at the second hospital.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car was on Wednesday, March 25, arraigned before an Ojokoro Senior Magistrate Court presided over by Mrs. T Akani on a two count charge.

The charge read, “that you Ibrahim Zakari ‘M’ on 23rd day of March, 2015 at 06.30 at Clem Road, Jankara drove a CRV Jeep with registration number LSD 885 DC in a manner without due care for other road users and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 28 of R.T.A Cap 172 Vol. 17 Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria 1994.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was granted bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

A police source however informed  Sun that the two persons have been arrested in connection with the alleged attempted attack which led to the accident that claimed the deceased’s life.

  5. The first hospital that rejected him killed him. Those people are bloody heartless. They should have at least attended to him before asking for police report. May he rest in peace.
