Russia has denied knowledge of the plane loaded with arms, bullet proof vests and a chopper. The supposed 'Russian' plane was intercepted at Kano international airport,after it developed a fault in the early hours of Saturday .Several reports claim the plane was from Russia, enroute Chad ..There have been unfounded rumours recently fingering Chad as one of the sponsors of Boko Haram ...
The Russian government through it's embassy in Nigeria tweeted
According to the information of the Embassy, the detained in Kano plane, allegedly carrying military hardware on board, is not Russian.The Nigerian military tweeted via its handle [@DefenceInfoNG].
“Investigation is ongoing to determine the content and origin of the aircraft. Further details will be made as soon as the investigation is completed.”
