ReplyDeleteDear poster, you have achieved the first step of your recovery process and that is acknowledging that you are addicted and not putting yourself in denial, the second step is to ask yourself "what purpose does your addiction serve you and at the end is it worth it?" Then replace ur addiction with something else better cos the truth is you can never break addiction. Let me quickly tell you my story.
I was addicted to the playing of games. In fact during my undergraduate and masters programme, there is no day that will go by that I won't play play station. I never realise I was an addict until I got married. I remember my wife was calling me for dinner that fateful day but I was so engrossed with my ps3 that I didn't even answer her. She just walked up to the game console, disconnected it and slammed it on the ground. In fury I asked her "are you mad?". She quietly look into my eyes and told me am the mad one here. I wanted to slap her (thank God I didn't) but she had walked away. There and then I knew I had an addiction problem that needs fixing.
This brings me to the next process and that is you must be accountable to someone. Have a relationship first with your Creator (James 4:7) and next with a lady that is not an addict like you and be accountable to them. Finally stay away from your danger zone or anything that might make you relapse back to your addiction. God help you Bro
p.s Don't let anybody bring down your spirit. We are all addicts, we just have different forms of addictions. Worse still some are in denial

Dear porn addict,I must be sincere,after reading all the advise given here today it still boils down to if you're ready to give this nasty habit up. Its in you(peak)! You end up deciding whether or not you're up for giving this habit up. Just find your inner strength to resist and talk to God. I drop my "pen" down now. Give us feed back,gracias n goodluck!
The fact that u see it as a problem is a good step. You need to talk to God and ask him to give you the grace to break this habit. Identify and avoid situations that make you crave to watch it. Whenevr you have the urge to watch, just find something to distract you, like taking a walk or you can go to where people are(that u won't be able to watch it). Avoid being idle. Also get rid of all the porn videos in ur possession(including phone and laptop). Most importantly, you need to develop another habit(a good habit), to replace this one.
