Lagos Ebola victims are neglected and suffering -Relatives & Colleagues lament

As the Ebola outbreak has claimed 4 lives in Nigeria, relatives and  colleagues of the female medical doctor and other health workers who contracted the Ebola virus from Liberian Patrick Sawyer, called journalists for a press conference  in Ikoyi,Lagos .They claim the victims are left in horrible conditions and not properly taken care of .Boyo-Ekwueme, a pathologist, and one of the  relatives said bitterly
, “We are not fighting anybody. We are simply giving voice to the voiceless. Those people in isolation at the IDH cannot voice out these concerns. Let them have basic treatment. It shouldn’t be as if we just stood there and abandon them and watch them die one by one..
Continue

“They are human beings. That female doctor is a patriotic Nigerian and she needs to be helped. You people  should go there and see the surroundings where they are being treated. You would wonder if these are human beings who still have relatives.
“They are just being left on their own. Nobody is counselling them. They are just there as if they have been forgotten. We should remember that they didn’t ask to contract Ebola and it can happen to anybody. We are appealing for international help for these health workers.”
 Okuboyejo, a medical practitioner, stated
“If a health facility doesn’t have light, doesn’t have water and the sanitary system is not working properly then we have got a problem. Now the patients are critically ill and their condition is getting worse by day. People, including some medical personnel, are now running away from them.
“The reality is that the disease is beyond our capacity to handle in this country. The international community needs to rise up to our aid. The victims are not being properly treated. Forget that the Nigeria Medical Association is on strike, we cannot handle it,”
 Another family member stated
“Where is the $12m the Federal Government said it released to fight Ebola. Remember that the matron and the ECOWAS protocol officer are already dead. Do they want all of them to start dying one after the other,”

    1. Nigerians are so gullible. They expect doctors n nurses to fuss around the person at every point n that is just not possible. There are few people willing to risk their lives for these sick people. If their relatives are asked to do it n risking their lives, they won't. Our government has been efficient and quick and are doing their best to fight this so instead of looking for flaws and criticising, appreciate the much they are doing.

  2. No wonder they are dying so quickly. Lord have mercy

  3. No one will risk his or her live to cater for them. I don't blame anyone. All we need is help from above. God will surely see us through this.

  4. Now I understand why the nurse ran. I had the same thoughts that these people were just abandoned. The health workers there are scared and don't want to die too. No insurance nothing. Its a shame that in less than one month, nigeria has lost 4 people to Ebola and US hasn't lost any. Such a shame that Jonathan approved over 1 billion yet we hear these types of stories

  6. I don't blame the nurse for running away. $12m is already in someone's pocket!! If the govt is the ready to treat them, they should allow their relatives to take care of them. Besides its not their fault that they contacted the virus, they need love in order to survive.

  7. The fact is, the government is doing their best, but when the Minster, governor leave those on ground meant to take care of them will abandon them because they don't want to die. Its a sad situation. No wonder the nurse ran

  8. Take this as positive criticism. Ms Achanga, a lot of your followers are not aware that with every click on your site, they are indirectly enriching you, especially. - bless their hearts- the poor students who use quite a bit of their bandwith to get , up to date on gossip and entertainment. Without them, you know the rest. Some of those I have spoken to who made me aware of your site in the first place, me inclusive, have come to see that all you do is promote self interest unlike other bloggers, full Nigerians, who have come to appreciate their avid followers. All you do is sieve comments out of fear or arrogance of others knowing a lot more than you or fear of being blacklisted. As a Lawyer, I know you have heard of what is called a disclaimer, but that's a different story. You never interact with those who waste their time looking you up, and those with mature minds have since passed up your blog for much more informative ones, Small wonder why! It's your blog and of course my dear, you can do what you like and post, delete, cut and paste or remove anything, it's all yours, you paid good money to get it running but miss lady, without mincing words, there comes a time to give back. Gift cards, free stuff, promos, job ads and so on, would bring more traffic and to name a few. I will be in Lagos in a few months for a forum and I might give you a call to introduce my team to you but for now, this is my two kobo contribution and take it straight to the bank and cash it by reading and deleting. I know there are many who feel the same way as I do about this blog but I am the voice of reason and have balls to nudge you. So, there you go and if I do breeze onto this site again at all I want to see a positive change. Spread the love girl.

    1. Mr or Mrs special adviser. This is a post about something of great concern to the nation and world at large yet you are worried about recharge cards and gifts and saying I post things of interest to me? Really? If that's what you want, send me your email or account and i'll pass some airtime to you. I am NOT other bloggers,i don't solicit for visitors and giving should not be used as a ploy to gain traffic. If I want to give, I would when I feel like. I'm rendering a service, sleepless nights too.The readers on this blog are not here because they need recharge card or freebies and I would appreciate them at my own time.
You talk about me deleting comments, that's a shame and shows you are not even a reader coz if you were, you would notice I am even being castigated by 'educated' readers for not censoring comments.
Oh and the mature minds who have passed up on my blog,I guess you keep track of those who visit my blog and those who leave. I'm taking my time to reply you because you decided not to mail me but post this as a comment and since I don't delete comments I might as well answer. And oh, don't bother contacting me, I wouldn't be needing to meet your team. Ciao

  13. Gosh I pray for their healing. Only prayers can work now. So unfortunate. At the anon who wrote that epistle to Emeh, why evils. Your comment sold you out. You are a student who needs freebies and it's understandable. If you need recharge cards or advert, you should have told her, not pretend to give advice which is filled with jealously. Telling her you may introduce her to your team is just low. Anyway she gave you her answer. Better go and leave us alone

  14. Here's a short note to this 'Anonymous':other blogs do freebies, yes we all know, emeh doesn't for reasons known to her,you dare come here to spit bull knowing that you could have sent 'that' message via email but nope you didn't,you had to be immature and a numbscull to post 'that' as a comment. Emeh I'm surprised, really surprised you took time to reply that 'anonymous',as for me,this is my 1kobo contribution and oh least I forget, its quite obvious emeh doesn't need your dumbass 'team'. Good riddance!

  15. Emeh is not a fake, she's not a wanna be, she brings news and information but she licks no ass, and of course she doesn't display news of constant nudity, ass, p***y, d***s etc we don't need an insincere traffic so move on to where u will mingle with FAKE WANNA BE BY FORCE people. Emeh, carry go dearie!

The ebola patients might have died due to negligent and rejection and not the virus itself that is killing them. What are the health ministers doing with the 1.9b president jonathan donated to fight ebola?Do they want them to die so that they can pocket the money? They just lock them in one room and abandon them.Quack docs
