Anyone been through this? Reader needs relationship advice...

Am Yoruba and My Parents are Muslim.. But I have being a christian for about 8years and I have zero interest in being a Muslim..My Boyfriend is Ibo and his parents are ordained ministers/ pastors...

We've known each other of 12yrs and being crushing on each other since day 1...Still is and maybe will always love this guy.Problem is, He's worried about how/ if his parents would accept my Muslim background...Am worried about my father , how or if he would accept him being ibo..

Question is, do we throw away our 12yrs of friendship and get over each other, or do we keep going and hope for  the best??

Non of us really has an answer .He says he cant imagine having to get over me.
I think we should just let it go, count our loss, shed tear  and not waste each other's time....better now than later
At this point, am beyond confused as to what to do

Anyone been through this???

    3. 12years is a long long time. What were you guys doing in your 5,6,7th year and so on. take a bold step and let the man approach your parents. do it with prayers and all. there are highly successful marriage from different tribes in Nigeria even from the yoruba ibo group.

    1. Thanks you, I thought this too. It is simple for an Igbo person, hardly igbo parents have definite decision in their son's marriage, to the best of my knowledge they can only recommend and advice. I can't say much about Yoruba's.

  6. Meet your parents first and let them say no; do not assume for them. The answer is always NO when you do not ask.

  17. i have been in a similar situation and we are both married now. When i first told my dad he refused but he later accepted when i made him see reasons why i have to be with my man. just try talk to your parents and see how it goes from there. do not just assume when you have not given it a try. Also wondering how you have been with a guy for 12years and both parents dont know about it.JUSTWONDERING.
