There have been calls for the release of names and photos of the abducted 234 girls in Borno state. Yesterday, Mrs Kema Chinwe was reported to have demanded the evidence that the girls were abducted
"How did it happen? Who saw it happen? Who did not see it happen? Who is behind this?”
In a statement by the Governor's Special Adviser on Media, Isa Gusau gives their reason for withholding the details
Who agrees....
"The Borno State Government has a comprehensive data that includes pictures of the missing students and those that returned, which the Government is ready to publish on Friday, May 2, 2014 if the Defence Headquarters which has since been managing information on counter insurgency operations in the Northeast, gives the go ahead and Mrs Chikwe, who now knows more than the security can ensure that.
Our fear is not to reveal names that would reveal religion and family backgrounds which could at the end, compromise the safety of these girls; provide basis for families to be reached with demands for ransom or be accused of undermining rescue efforts or sensationalism.
In addition to these, abduction of girls are sometimes interpreted to mean automatic rape, where the identity of these are revealed, they could be stigmatized even after being rescued."
THE FG IS RIGHT IN A WAY THO

Releasing their names will be bad also use of force as some foolish politicians are pushing making some Nigerians to believe that FG is not making any effort to rescue those kids will be fatal and dangerous..Nigerians should to allow themselves to be used by some politicians who have seen this incident as an avenue to score cheap political point...This is abduction as those animals called boko haram have nothing to loose they might kill those kids if security agents use force.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good move too bad they don't pass information around to calm Nigerians. If they release those names and pictures, Boko haram will match the faces to the names and God help them none of their enemy's daughter is there or a pastor or political figure's child. This is the best way to go. Putting out the pictures won't help. It's not like we are storming the bushes holding the photos to rescue the girls. I believe the government is working silently to release them
ReplyDeleteAm sorry, I am not buying these crap... Let us say this is the case, why haven't we heard anything from the said principal of the school, no pictures of the school itself.. Ok even if u do not want to release the names of the girls, what about their pictures? If we are gonna sympathize with the families of these girls, we need some closure... I am tired of the lies, the uncertainty and the confusion. We deserve to see what the girls look like.... Shame on the ministry of defense for always trying or thinking they can play us.. I am not moved by these statements of theirs.. Nonsense
ReplyDeleteI think the principle should speak publicly abt the issue
DeleteWhich danger. There is no greater danger than what they are in already. Danger is taking them and locking them somewhere in another country as a sex slave of a murderer. Let them publish the names
ReplyDeleteLairs, they don't have the pics
ReplyDeleteI somehow agree with them.
