Lagos ranked 4th worst city on earth

Eko o ni Baje Oooo. Lagos is ranked the 4th worst city on earth and the second-fastest growing city in Africa. This is courtesy of Economist Intelligence Unit, EIU
According to the list which has countries from Africa and Asia in the first three,Lagos shares its 137 position with Port Moresby, in Papua New Guinea
The report released yesterday reads....
“Rapid growth is not always a good thing because Lagos is now a magnet for two perpetual threats to peace: pirates and Islamist warriors.
Boko Haram have a problem with cities like Lagos and also lots of weaponry. Pirates threaten trade and use kidnapping as a method of funding. Islamist terrorist groups such as Boko Haram (“Education is forbidden”) want to create their own version of heaven on earth by destroying cities such as Lagos and imposing strict sharia law. Lagos has enormous potential but as yet little to show for it – hence its poor ranking,”

Hmmn is it the same Lagos I live in or another one...

      Perceived threat but that threat is real dont be fooled. When the army moved in on them in north. Boko haram slipped into cameroun and other urban areas of nigeria. Most likely places like lagos because of its large population and lagos's large northern nigerian settlers. Which might give them, boko haram a cover cause they can easily mingle and blend in.

    Yes, by western standards (oyinbo) lagos aint it. I read the report last night and the report is based on solid infrastructure, safety, doing biz conditions, peace, affordability. Lagos, isnt a vancouver or melbourne or adelaide or toronto. You have got to know lagos doesnt stand a chance with our kind of living conditions. Noisiness, overcrowding, security challenges ( kidnapping threat of boko haram ), not enough green spaces n green parks, poverty. I was born and breed in lasgidi but truth be told many parts of lagos are nothing more than overpopulated urban slums and concrete jungles. Oyibo isnt interested in point n kill peppersoup and noisy cramped beer parlours. Or our kinds of night clubs/nightlife. Nonetheless, fashola is a great governor, doing great things and he is really trying his best. Lagos is the winning team in nigeria. In fact, lagos is one of the best places to live in nigeria. Compared to other parts of nigeria and by naija standards, lagos is it. The problems of lagos and indeed nigeria, are just too much/complicated. Even obama or david cameron will have trouble fixing lagos or naija as a whole. Eko oni baje oooo. God bless lagos, Long live lagos.

    Lagos is dirty.Unless you are lucky to be one of the few rich people like me.I dont see the bad parts like you people because from my banana island home, all i see are whitepeople and beautiful cars an houses.Its good to be pwetty
