In what seems like a ray of hope, the dreaded Boko Haram sect has declared its intentions to cease fire pending a meeting which they proposed should hold in Saudi Arabia.
They also gave certain conditions for the truce. The spokesman of the group, Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez, who doubles as the second-in-command (Amir) to their leader, Imam Abubakar ShekarauThese are...
-Former Head of State, Muhammed Buhari as leader of the negotiating team.
- Dialogue must take place in Saudi Arabia, not Nigeria
-Government compensates the group, rebuilds their places of worship destroyed during 2009 uprising
-Arrest and prosecution of former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.
-All their members who were arrested must be released immediately.
-Their wives and children who were displaced following the crises should be rehabilitated into the society
Presidential spokesman Reuben said"The Federal Government is committed to peace and security for the benefit of all Nigerians. If what the proposed ceasefire is intended to achieve are the objectives of peace and security, then it is a welcome development"
On this issue, President Jonathan has really disappointed a lot of Nigerians that have same mind set as me. This sect is nothing but a group of foolish criminals and they should be treated as such, there's nothing they've got to offer Nigeria abd nobody is scared of them. If they have what it takes they should come out and challange the government as the Niger-Delta militants did or why didn't they do all this rubbish when ex-president Obasanjo was still ruling?
ReplyDeleteGovernment shouldn't negotiate with terrorists?Let them checkout USA as an example.Weaklings
ReplyDeleteOne phrase is all I've got to say on this issue.

ReplyDeleteAm not surprised Buhari’s name was mentioned as the leader of the negotiating team. This whole madness started when he lost the election to uncle Jona. If he was not among them or happy with the situation why has he not come out openly to appeal to them to stop all this?
